Overview:
From the long experience of the Institute of Clinical Physiology of the CNR of Pisa (IFC-CNR) in the quality control of immunometric assays, since 1980, in 2006 was born as a spin-off of the CNR QualiMedLab, for the design and development of products and services for quality control in laboratory medicine. QualiMedLab develops and manages External Evaluation (EQV) programs, already the subject of CNR research projects in collaboration with other European centers, still in progress.
The External Quality Assessment Programmes in Laboratory Medicine (VEQ or EQAS External Quality Assessment Schemes) are designed to allow retrospective comparison between determinations carried out in different laboratories. Participants in VEQ programmes obtain, through periodic reports of results, useful information on the analytical performance of the different methods/kits used in the measurements. The control samples, in lyophilic form, are prepared from human serum with the possible addition of purified components of human origin, pure chemicals, preservatives and stabilizers; the sera are lyophilized to increase their stability.
