RELIEF is an innovative start-up born from the experience of a team of researchers of the Scuola S.Anna, result and evolution of activities and research experiences in the field of urinary incontinence and implantable robotic devices.
The homonymous product Relief (Restoration of the urinary continEnce and of the control of urination by artificial sFintere) is an implantable device able to represent an effective solution to the problem of urinary incontinence, a dysfunction that affects about 350 million people in the world and with a growth trend for the next few years, with causes of a different nature.
The device, which has already attracted the interest of some operators in the sector and won some competitions for start-ups, consists of a valve based on polymer and titanium, activated simply through an external magnetic field to regulate the expulsion of urine, is easy to implant and competitive in terms of costs and applications compared to current market products. The clinical phase of testing the device is about to start.
